In Drakenstier (Dragon Bull), I weave two ancient symbols into a new, glowing legend. The fierce dragon of Saint George and the proud bull of Thijs Trompert merge into one living form—wild, untamed, and full of wonder. Using light as its medium and myth as its guide, Drakenstier invites the city of Amersfoort to dream again: of battles fought, of stories reborn, and of a future where history shimmers in the dark.
Measuring 3 meters long, 2.5 meters high, and 1 meter wide, Drakenstier is crafted from willow, bamboo, and paper. I created the sculpture together with artists Lonneke Cuppen and Koen van Eeckhoutte, in close collaboration with the local community. Today, it proudly belongs to the Municipality of Amersfoort.
